I Love This Love Story

Hello again. 10 years deep into my nail art hobbyist career and still going strong with the polish, but very weak with the blog. I find myself re-addicted to reading, and in a couple of nail art book groups, so it is time. Time to return to the love of providing my own written word to the World Wide Web.

Beginner's Luck

I have benefited from Beginner's Luck on many occasions: the first time I was introduced to Munchkin; the first (and only) time I played squash; the first time I made coffee at home. If I ever take this super power to the casino I will undoubtedly leave very happy - the first time.

Carnival of Irrationality

There is a lot to be learned from TV: manners, quick wit, unrealistic expectations for romance. It is an especially good resource for irrational fears. Are there really any blood-thirsty clowns off of the silver screen? Not to mention the effect Hollywood has had on the perception of clowns' stamping grounds: The Circus.

When Pumpkin Spice Everything™ hits the shelves you know without a doubt that Autumn has arrived. And along with the tastiest Everything™ flavour comes the most beautiful scenery, the comfiest clothes, and everyone's favourite holiday: Hallowe'en. This season allows the opportunity to play dress-up and let out your inner-demon without judgement.

New Addiction

Sometimes peer pressure can be a good thing. I don't mean bullying. I mean actual peers with whom I share a mutual respect, pushing me outside of my comfort zone for my own good. My one friend did not give me a choice and told me I would be participating in the Mudmoiselle 5K obstacle course this year.

Whimusical Recreation

Nostalgia has a certain comfort that always puts me in a great mood. Recently, I was going through old memory cards, and found some nail designs from a couple years ago that I never shared. I don't know what I was thinking in the moment, because I look at them now

Words As Art

The writer in me finds harmony with the artist in me when we see words as art. On T-shirts, home decor, coffee mugs. And nails. Especially nails. There's just something about seeing little letters, all colourful, alongside other colourful shapes to make a sophisticated design. And, if they really know what they're doing, GLITTER!

Hearing In Colour

The end of the month has rolled around again and that means it's time for another The Polished Bookworms mani!

October's book was All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, a poetic Bildungsroman alternating between a young blind girl staying hidden in France, and a young boy doing

Strip Me Off

Since inviting myself into the world of nail art addiction, I paint my nails approximately 5 times a week. I have created an evening ritual where I come home, make and eat supper, then paint my nails while watching Netflix. Considering that I change my nail polish as often as I change my underwear, the Daily Removal Process is a time-consuming nightmare.

When Polish Love Meets Book Love

I have always prided myself on my love of books. I have all of the necessities: Harry Potter, Uglies , Twilight saga, Hunger Games, Divergent. I love to read the books that everyone is talking about, and I have found the best way to get into the conversation is to join a book club!

The Coral of My Being

I recently became an "Ipster," receiving monthy makeup samples in the mail from ipsy.com. In the third bag delivered, I found my first nail polish sample from them, Formula X "Power Source," and oh my! I had no idea coral was missing from my nail polish collection — missing from my life!

Ready for the Beach

Mother Nature has eliminated the need for "spring." This year we appear to have gone from winter straight into summer. And with this early-but-welcome summer weather comes inspiration for fun and warm nail designs! Elleandish did a nautical boat design a couple of weeks ago, and here I have done a variation of her design (okay the one nail is straight from her video).

Party Time!

China Glaze's Electric Nights collection was recently released, full of bright neons perfect for summertime. One shade in particular caught my eye: Point Me To The Party.

This colourful, little bottle of glitter is unlike anything in my personal collection, so I had to have it!

The Beginning

I was a notorious nail biter from the time I grew teeth. My mother tried all the tricks: painting my nails thinking little girls like pretty nails and won't want to eat nail polish (a mere obstacle); the nasty flavoured anti-bite "polish" (but I couldn't even lick icing off my
